CW 025 – More Books, Renovations, and Whoa, I’m famous!

025 04-17-07

In the age old debate of Pirates versus Ninjas, I think I’ve finally found my place. I go for Zombies. Realistically, they would have the least advantages over ninjas, certainly, and pirates if they stayed on the water, but this is a relatively safe way to end the argument without dragging in, say, cowboys.

Mmm, I’m pretty sure I had some good one-two liners in my head, but they aren’t coming now, of course.

I’ve got a busy day ahead. In the space between 9:25 and 9:45, I’ve got to finish a project that was due sometime last week, and sometime during my 11:00 class, I’ve got to finish that dragon picture. I’m starting to be really pissed at it. I was supposed to finish it last night, but other things were simply more interesting, and it was pushed aside until I was too tired to function properly.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about room renovations again. It’s been awhile since the last time, when I was able to free up some space and arrange things to suit my lazy needs. Since my full sized bed is usually one half to two thirds full of books, papers, and other such things, I figured maybe it’s time to trade it in for something smaller that can maybe take up less than half the space, and maybe I can put in a small table to make up for the lost surface area. It’d be a nice place to do puzzles, instead of the floor where they tend to gather dust and cat hair, and the bed where they take up too much space. I dug out the old plans from the previous remodel, and if I can figure out a few things, what to do with the heater (I don’t think I need it; I hardly use it anyway) and the air conditioner (I wouldn’t like to lose that, it’s remarkably handy, but it takes up valuable space where my head or feet might be).

For some reason, I get very excited about the prospect of making changes to my environment.

Zombies also have the best song out of the bunch.

Yesterday I finished reading The Tutor. Absolutely terrifying, and only a few threads left loose. I kind of wish I had someone to discuss it with, but of course, that’s the problem with small fandoms. No one’s there. Still, there’s always PSOH. The fqf community offerings are due in June, and some of them sound like they’re going to be great. I keep trying to find out what fqf stands for, but no such luck.

Genjuu no Seiza volume three is supposed to be out now, and I might stop by Barnes & Noble on the way home. I went to the website last night, and found a neat tool that checks if the book is stocked by your local B&N. Not surprisingly, most of the titles I’m looking for aren’t there, but a few of them are. I’m eagerly awaiting Kamen Tantei v3, too, as this series is complete at four volumes, and not available online like Genjuu was for awhile. I should check and see where Night Exile is these days.

Most of all, I’m waiting for Genjuu volume 4; that’s the one with the PSoH crossover, with Count D making a guest appearance. Someone (forgot who, exactly, sorry…) tells me there’s also a crossover in volume 8, and I can’t wait. Volume 8 hasn’t been scanned as far as I know, so I haven’t seen it and didn’t know about it. Ahh, and I hear Shin PsoH is out in Japan; exid posted a lovely scan of the front cover. It’s kind of blue and it’s got a turtle thing. You know, lately in the newer full color page Count D pinups, he seems softer that he used to be. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the artist changing, but she’s been pretty solid and consistent for a long time. It’s gotta be Leon’s influence. 🙂

And of course, long after prompt suggestions are closed, I keep thinking of newer and better prompts that I would love to see acted out. Maybe next round, if there is one. I don’t really know how these fic fest things work.

Also, know what? Last night I remembered reading some fic, but I can’t remember the title or author, or how I came across it. I’ll have to scour my bookmarks and hope that I had the sense to tag it, as it was offsite from one of the major archives, and I don’t remember finishing the story. Fortunately, there are enough details I do remember that if worse come to worst, I can always ask around and hope someone else has read it and can link me.

Allergies aren’t as bad today. They aren’t great, but they’ve been worse.

I’ve taken up fishing and cards on Gaia again. After I was struck by the sudden urge to buy a Long Drag and make something aristocratic looking. I’m also fishing again after reading the latest updates in the rare fish research thread. It’s gone and gotten my hopes up all over again, saying chances of hooking a rare in a lucky bucket could be up to 25%. It’s just ridiculous to believe, but there’s that chance. And I’ve made about 4000 tickets in the last two and a half days, so in case the Long Drag longing wears off sooner rather than later, I’ll likely have a nice emergency stash I can hoard or spend on something nice. I never did end up buying those family jewels. I wonder if they’d go with this one avatar I’ve been working on…

New donation items came out, and they were right when they claimed that lots of people have been waiting a long time for them. Mertails, Lunar Scythe, and a few contact lens type positions. I still prefer the old leaked lenses, but some of these are okay.

The heck. I just googled my screenname and found I appear to have been quoted in some Poughkeepsie blog thing. It’s a good thing I always proofread my posts and make doubly sure my information is accurate.

Bye now.

No wonder I can never locate some of them…

Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 1:38 am (Uncategorized) (, )

Dude, three of my teachers are in the paper because of the new teacher’s lounge.

Picture quality is poo.

And just to make things perfectly clear, here is the proof that Naruto is 1337.

Oh, man, I just watched the first episode of Hellsing.  I was watching primarily with the Japanese audio track on, but here and there I switched to English.  Tee hee hee.  They have English accents.  It’s very, very odd to be hearing that in anime.

Da-da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da-da-da, da-DAH-DAH-DAH…

Friday, November 4, 2005 at 7:08 pm (Uncategorized) ()

Awhile ago I had an idea for a music video.  It requires Children vs. the Sandstorm and Corpse Bride.  The latter is two and a half hours away from being mine, and the first is a Frankenstein creation, because one version of the song had a slightly messed with beginning, and the other had something in the middle I didn’t like.

Hrrrm…I finally got hooked on Naruto by reading 31 volumes of it last weekend.  By Wednesday I started coming down from the high and got really depressed. >_<  I ought to ration my supplies.

So, if you’re a member of Gaiaonline.com, you can probably guess what I’ve started questing for.

EDIT:  My birthday’s on Monday.  Send presents.

“Da Kitties! <3” Remixed

Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 11:33 am (Uncategorized) (, )

‘Twas a warm Thursday in July, much like the one we had a few days ago, except the one I’m thinking of happened ten days ago, not a few days ago.  As I write, I enjoy a hot steaming cup of Ramen, and watch My Neighbor Totoro with Ryan.  Incidentally, the Japanese title is Tonari no Totoro.  I’ve got the soundtrack, and learned for the first time that the original opening and ending themes were in Japanese.  Sounds obvious, but at seven, my world revolved around English.

The point.

On Thursday, July 14, 2005, my family once again had cats for the first time in nearly eight years.

As a child, my memories are largely filled with the most wonderful old cat, a big girl at sixteen pounds.  Long black fur, with a curious white patch on her neck, intelligent green eyes, and the softest paws.  It sounds silly, but Gizmo raised me.  She was originally a stray with kittens when my aunt first found her, and she lived with them and the family’s other seven cats.  My aunt was sort of the “crazy-cat-lady,” except she’s fun.  I seem to take after her a lot.  Gizmo was the queen of the lot, agressive about her territory, and she didn’t tolerate the other cats.  That’s why she came to us.  I was still small then, and Gizmo sort of “adopted” me.  She came to me whenever I was sad or lonely, she protected me when my dad tried to pull my tooth.

I think she knew she was dying.  Every night for a long time, she came to me, sat on me and purred, kneaded my shoulder, occasionally meowing and making me feel warm.  On one trip home from the vet, I noticed moisture in the corner of her eyes, like teardrops.

She died at the end of August 1997, a few days before school started.  My mother, brother, and I were in Modesto visiting my grandparents, and we had an uncle and aunt visiting our home.  My father called us, told us, and we cried for a long time that night.  When we got home, he showed us the patch in the garden where he buried her.

For a long time, it looked like our home would never be blessed with a warm animal again.  Ryan was born in March the next year, and a new animal would be too much to handle along with a baby.

Cont’d later.

Papa ooh mow mow, papa ooh mow mow…

Monday, July 11, 2005 at 12:17 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

Squeeee, I just ate lasagna.  Lasagna.  You can’t tell, but I like to pronounce it “Le-SAG-nee.”  Because I can.

I  just watched the mockumentary Meet the Raisins.  It’s a lot shorter than I remember.  It’s still good anyway.  Back from family camp, and we didn’t stop in Grass Valley for three hours this time.  Karina would be delighted to know that I wore shorts for almost the entire week.

I am against the Diamond Arrow lifeguards because they almost killed my little brother.  Yep.

I want peanuts.

When I got back, the bittorrent site I use for anime/manga was still on the fritz, but I did manage to finished dling Vampire Hunter D.  You know, the first movie.  I had to dl some other software to play it, but I guess it was worth it.  It’s so bad it’s funny.  And it hurts.  It’s a painful funny.  Bloodlust redeems the series so much.  Oh, and after I watched the movie, I finished the book.  *Siiiiiiigh*  Such a gooooood book.   The next one won’t be out until August.  I heard there are seventeen and counting books currently out in Japan.  D’ya know how long it’s gonna take them to bring em over here? *sigh*

On Gaia, I’m beginning to quest for an Angelic Scarf.  I technically have enough valuable items equal in worth to the scarf, but I don’t want to give some of them up.  I think I’ll just wait for the Kikis to inflate some more.  They seem to be going faster than the scarf at the moment.

I’ve still got the Raisins stuck in my head.  Good stuff.

So Long…Farewell…

Sunday, July 3, 2005 at 2:48 am (Uncategorized) (, )

Sometime tomorrow I’m going back to camp for a week.  No computer, woe is me!   I’ll survive.  I’m taking books.  Lots and lots of books.  And shorts.  I hear it’s much hotter up there now.  I haven’t worn shorts this often since….fifth grade.  I am not kidding.

RE: Currently listening
I’m not really listening to the New Dominion: Tank Police OST; I’m listening to the “old” Dominion: Tank Police OST.  The old one wasn’t listed.  Stupid Myspace.  I downloaded New DTP, and watched about half of the episodes before trashing them in disgust.  Nothing like the original. Original DTP all the way.

Life ish good.

In other news, Bob and Larry, our lil baby turtles, went on a carnivorous rampage a few nights ago.  We had about 30 feeder guppies in the tank.  One morning, we got up…there are six left.  Yeesh.  Usually Bob has such a hard time catching guppies.  We concluded that the fish were stressed due to an overdosing of aquarium chemicals, and went out to get some more fish. (The survivors were hidden somewhere in a corner, looking very very paranoid.)  Also, it turns out that Larry had been turning up the temperature in the tank, as the water was about ten degrees higher than what it needed to be. Whoever designed the heater is a moron.  The knob to adjust the temperature is on the part that gets submerge, and Larry has a habit of trying to squeeze himself behind the heater, and in doing so tends to crank up the heat.  Warm turtles are hungry turtles.

After buying twenty new guppy friends, we put their little plastic baggies in the tank.  Apparently you have to “float” them to get them used to the change in temperature.  I wish I had the video camera then.  Bob went nuts when he saw there were so many new “friends” for him to play with, and he tried to bite them through the plastic bags.  Poor Bob.  Poor guppies, actually.  But Bob was cute doing it.

After we dumped them out of the bag, Bob tried to chase them all at once.  Not easy, then they are smaller, faster, and can maneuver better than him.  He did end up catching one guppy, the slow, pregnant one that was swimming funny (but only because he’d gotten in half a bite before–it took him three or four times before he finally got it.)

Bored now.  And my brother changed my music.

Almost forgot…

Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 3:19 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

A few updates on the current state of affairs:

1. I’m still sick. I’ve noticed that I never wake up fine after 2-3 days of a cold. Instead, my diseases like to fade out *gracefully* over the course of, oh, a month.

2. My Fullmetal Alchemist download is currently 55 percent complete. Not bad, I have to admit. Another 2-3 weeks and it should be done. *sweatdrops*

3. On Saturday, I got out of bed at 7:30 of my own free will. It was weird. But, I went back to bed afterwards because it was cold in the house. (I didn’t fall asleep again, I just stared at the ceiling.)

4. Once I got back, I started reading Death Note online. All I can say is wow. I HAVE to admire someone who can plan out such a complicated plot and not have a stroke.
