Argle largle!

Seems I spoke too soon.  I paid for and downloaded the ebooks, then found they’re in a different, newer format that requires a new software download to open them.  So I download the new stuff, extract the books, and now I turns out I can’t read them in Adobe Reader.  I have to use the new thingie.  This wouldn’t be so bad, except the new thingie doesn’t have a fullscreen view.  So the screenshots I get won’t be quite as big as my last release.  It’s probably not really noticeable unless you actually put them up side by side one another, but I’ll know in my heart of hearts that Joan 1 is larger than Joan 2 and 3.  And I hate inconsistency.  Boo.

This rant is a lot more scaled back than the original, because you guys can’t tell that I spent at least half an hour trying to reactivate my software because they thought I was moving files between two different computers, which entailed signing up for an Adobe ID, trying to log in with it, and discovering that I still can’t activate the new files to work with the old software because nothing’s changed but somebody THINKS things have.

GOD, Adobe, you suck.  But I still love you.

Life is Good

I’m listening to the haunting strains of Ludovico Einaudi.

I wrote what may be the best class assignment essay to ever come from my head.

I’m figuring out CSS and <div> tags.

I had me some ice cream, half choc, half vanilla, with smores chocolate shell on top.

I’d say it’s a pretty darn good day.  And since I paid my Visa bill, I’ll see about getting some of them ebooks I’ve been eyeing.

Oh right, and since I’ve had a couple of questions about Dark Metro, I guess I’ll say something.  As far as I can discern, Dark Metro volume 3 does not exist at this time.  I get no hits on your basic search, and Tokyopop’s website is useless.  Can’t find a release date or anything.  Knowing TP’s situation, I’d say don’t hold your breath.

Crapsack World

Monday, February 9, 2009 at 11:10 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

So, the spring semester has begun.  I can say that approximately 80% of my classes are of the SOUL KILLING variety.

Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:00 – Computer Applications of some sort, but really, it’s computers for people who have never touched a computer in their lives.  On day one, we learned how to use the MOUSE.  For our test today, we made folders and MOVED FILES FROM ONE FOLDER TO ANOTHER.

Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:45 – History 202, repeating from my crash and burn attempt from two semesters ago.  Same teacher, same material.  Different book.  I only narrowly escaped having to shell out $130 for a new edition.

Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:45 – Stretching and Flexibility; I need PE units for what reason, again?  Ugh.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:10 – English 110, which has its ups and downs.  I like this teacher, I’m liking the material thus far.  What I do not like are the freaking early classtimes and the inevitable paper-writing.  I hate papers.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:25 – Web Design, which is the only class that doesn’t make me want to break small, fragile objects.  I’m finally taking the plunge to get Windows XP so I can run CS4, and a new computer is gradually being put together for me.  (So, anyone waiting for more ebooks will have to wait longer, since the ones I’m planning to buy are non-transferable.  Wait until the new box is hooked up. 🙂

!*^&!($ What just happened to the three paragraphs and half page of links I had right here??? AUTOSAVE CURSE YOUUUUUU!
